As part of our commitment to supporting initiatives in our local community, we have been proud to support Wood Street Mission as charity of the year, chosen by our employees. As an independent charity, Wood Street Mission rely on supporters such as LIMA to raise money and awareness of the incredible work that they do every day.
Wood Street Mission is a children’s charity that provides practical help and support to children and families living on a low income in Manchester and Salford. Through their initiative, Family Basics, they provide struggling families with clothes, bedding, baby equipment, and toys which are vitally important for children’s wellbeing and development. They also promote engagement in education by helping families with the costs of going to school through SmartStart and run a variety of clubs to help improve children’s literacy.
Throughout the year, Lima has embarked on a series of events to raise as much money as possible, during a time where the normal methods of fundraising were not possible due to the pandemic. For that reason, team LIMA pulled together to come up with innovative ways to give a little back…
During October, whilst most people were working from home, we asked our employees to donate the cost of their usual coffee, breakfast, or mid-morning snack that they would usually buy in the office to the Wood Street Mission. From what may seem like only a small amount, when added up, we were delighted to raise £220 for the charity.
Most recently, LIMA donated 50 presents to the Wood Street Mission’s Amazon Wish List to provide toys for children to enjoy on Christmas Day. Once a present is donated, families can choose a main present and some stocking-fillers that are most suited to their child/children, free of charge. Once all of the donations were collected, on Friday 11 December we were pleased to safely welcome a representative from Wood Street Mission into our offices to collect the presents.
